Shopping & Outlets

Shopping inside Manhattan? Start with our NYC shopping guide for eight flagship stores, neighborhood choices and two easy walking routes. Choosing between outlets? Read our Woodbury, Jersey Gardens and Tanger comparison, with nine destinations, travel allowances and practical trade-offs.
Choose the shopping trip that fits your day, then open the guide for stores, hours, travel and visitor ratings.

A dedicated outlet day: compare Woodbury Common with Tanger Riverhead. Both involve outdoor walks and a substantial round trip from Manhattan.

Rainy-day shopping: choose enclosed Jersey Gardens. For shops plus separately ticketed attractions, compare American Dream, including its Sunday shopping restrictions.

Rail or ferry: Tanger Deer Park has a station shuttle on specified days. Empire Outlets suits a shorter stop beside the free Staten Island Ferry.

Already heading toward Six Flags? Jackson Premium Outlets can add a focused shopping stop—if everyone still has the energy.

Shopping near the Jersey Shore: Jersey Shore Premium Outlets in Tinton Falls is another outdoor option, especially when shopping is part of a New Jersey outing. Allow roughly 75–120 minutes each way from Manhattan as a planning estimate, with more time in traffic.

A focused Paramus trip: Bergen Town Center combines outlets with everyday stores. Its regular shopping hours exclude Sunday; for a Shabbat-observant visit, choose Monday through Thursday outside holidays.

Boutiques beside UBS Arena: Belmont Park Village is an outdoor Long Island option, with an LIRR station shuttle and parking conditions to consider on event nights.

Count the return journey, budget separately for transport and food, and arrange kosher meals. For Shabbat-observant shopping, choose a weekday outside Jewish holidays and check the destination’s opening days; Bergen is closed for regular shopping on Sunday.
