Bergen Town Center: Stores, Hours & Shopping from NYC

PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY · OUTLETS AND EVERYDAY SHOPPING

A successful shopping trip does not have to end with an extra suitcase. Sometimes it is a pair of shoes, a jacket that fits and enough afternoon left to enjoy New York. Bergen Town Center makes sense for that kind of outing: outlet stores, off-price department stores and everyday retailers in one Paramus shopping center.

At a glance: Bergen Town Center is at Route 4 East and Forest Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey. Regular shopping hours are Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday is closed. Allow two to three hours for a focused visit, plus roughly 40–75 minutes each way by car from Manhattan as a planning estimate.

The Sunday closure is the detail to settle before the shopping list. A restaurant with separate hours does not mean the fashion stores are open. For Shabbat-observant visitors, Monday through Thursday outside Jewish holidays is the simplest choice.

Three kinds of shopping, one destination

Bergen is useful precisely because it is not one uniform outlet village. Bloomingdale’s The Outlet Store and Banana Republic Factory Store give you obvious outlet starting points. Burlington offers another kind of bargain hunt. Best Buy, Target and Whole Foods serve more everyday errands. A shop’s presence in the same center does not make every product an outlet deal.

What you are looking for Places to compare in the current directory
Outlet clothing and family basics Banana Republic Factory Store, GAP Factory, Carter’s Babies and Kids
A less predictable browse for brands Bloomingdale’s The Outlet Store and Burlington
Sportswear or shoes Adidas, ALDO and other footwear listings
Everyday shopping alongside clothes Best Buy, Target and Whole Foods Market

Start with the official store directory and center map. Circle the two shops that matter most, rather than arriving with a list copied from a photograph or an old blog. Stock and individual-store hours can differ.

If you enjoy searching the racks, leave space for a surprise. If you need one particular size or model, contact the store before crossing the river. Those are different shopping missions, and they deserve different amounts of your vacation.

Hours, location and the trip from Manhattan

Address Route 4 East & Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
Regular shopping hours Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday closed. Individual businesses and holiday dates may differ.
Driving allowance Roughly 40–75 minutes each way from Manhattan; an editorial planning range, not a live traffic prediction. Congestion can take the journey beyond it.
Suggested visit Two to three hours for a few chosen shops.
Admission No shopping admission ticket. Purchases, transport and meals are separate expenses.
Weather A mixed shopping layout. Do not assume every move between stores stays indoors.

Use the official hours page for your date and Google Maps for Bergen Town Center for the destination. This is not Westfield Garden State Plaza or Paramus Park; several shopping centers share the Paramus name in travel discussions.

Build the return journey into your day before adding another stop. A two-hour browse with a long round trip is not a two-hour activity. Driving costs can include tolls; a rideshare needs a return budget as well as an attractive outward fare. If you are using public transport, plan the actual date and departure point with the operator’s journey planner rather than relying on a generic “bus to Paramus” instruction.

With children or a stroller, group nearby stores together. One visitor’s useful warning is that some moves between shops cross parking areas. The layout matters more than the number of logos you can fit onto a shopping list.

A satisfying two- or three-hour visit

Begin with the purchase you would be disappointed to miss. Give it your freshest attention: try the right sizes, compare the item and read the return terms. Then move to a second shop while you still have the patience to choose, rather than merely carry.

Leave the last part of the visit for a free browse or a second look at something you liked. You do not owe the center a purchase from every section. Walking away from a nearly-right jacket is often the most useful bargain of the afternoon.

For families, agree on a finish time before entering. Bergen is primarily a place to shop, not a substitute for a children’s attraction. A short list and a planned break work better than promising “just one more store” for the fifth time. Couples who both enjoy shopping may happily stay longer; a reluctant companion will probably appreciate the two-hour version.

What visitors actually find useful

Google: 4.5 / 5 from 13,306 reviews, checked October 13, 2026. Read the current listing and reviews.

Two comments capture the practical trade-off. Heather S, in a review displayed as one month old, praised the range of stores and convenient parking: the appeal was getting several errands done in one place. Hank Chang, displayed as three months old, pointed out that reaching different stores can mean crossing parking lots. That is useful context for rain, children and anyone trying to minimize walking.

These are specific visitor observations, not proof that every trip will feel the same. The Google score is shown on its own here; a second current rating source has not yet been confirmed for this English guide.

How to decide whether the saving is worth the trip

Compare the final price of the actual item, not only the percentage on the sign. An outlet, an off-price retailer and a regular shop may have different ranges and return rules. Ask whether the item can be returned and where, especially if you are flying home soon.

As a simple budget example, two people allowing $150 each for purchases have a $300 shopping budget. Their day costs more once transport and food are added. This is a planning example, not an estimate of what any particular brand will charge. If you only want one small item, the cost of crossing the river may outweigh the saving.

Kosher meals, Shabbat and practical access

Plan your meal separately: this guide does not verify a kosher restaurant inside the center. A familiar grocery brand or a restaurant’s menu is not a substitute for supervision. Bring suitable food or arrange a stop from our kosher restaurant guides, allowing for its actual location.

For a Shabbat-observant shopping day, choose Monday through Thursday outside Jewish holidays. Sunday is not the fallback here. Avoid building a Friday afternoon shopping trip around an optimistic drive back to Manhattan.

If step-free access or limited walking is important, use the center map to choose the exact shops and entrances, then confirm the route with the center. The fact that some stores are indoors does not establish a fully sheltered or step-free route between all of them.

Bergen or another outlet trip?

Jersey Gardens is worth comparing when an enclosed shopping day is your priority. Woodbury Common suits a more substantial designer-outlet outing. Belmont Park Village offers a different boutique setting on Long Island, beside UBS Arena.

For a shorter shopping add-on to a sightseeing outing, consider Empire Outlets beside the Staten Island Ferry. Let the brands you want, the weather and the complete journey decide—not a contest to visit the largest number of malls. Our shopping guides compare the practical differences.

Frequently asked questions
